How to Connect Decktopus AI via MCP (Claude and Other LLMs)

Connect Claude or any MCP-compatible LLM to Decktopus AI using the remote MCP server. Create presentations through conversation with a simple one-time setup.

Decktopus AI is available as a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. This allows Claude and other MCP-compatible LLMs to connect directly to Decktopus and create presentations inside a conversation.

MCP Server URL: https://apiv21.decktopus.com/mcp

How to Connect in Claude

  1. In any chat, click the + icon in the message box

  2. Select Connectors

  1. Click Add connector > Add custom connector

  1. Name the connector (e.g. "Decktopus") and paste the server URL into the URL field

  1. Click Continue — authentication and OAuth client settings are auto-detected, leave them as-is

  2. Click Add

  3. Complete the OAuth sign-in on decktopus.com when prompted

  4. Enable the connector from the + menu inside a chat — new connectors are off by default

How to Use

Once connected and enabled, type a Decktopus-related request in any chat (e.g. "create a Q3 presentation for the board").

The first time Claude uses each Decktopus tool, it asks for your approval. Options are:

  • Deny — block the action

  • Allow once — approve this time, ask again next time

  • Always allow — skip future prompts for that tool

A single request can trigger multiple tools in sequence (e.g. Check AI Credits, List Organizations, Create Presentation), each requiring separate approval on first use.

Typical Flow

  1. You submit a request describing your presentation

  2. Claude may ask a clarifying question (topic, audience, purpose)

  3. Relevant Decktopus tools run in sequence, each requesting approval on first use

  4. If your personal workspace has no credits, Claude offers to check the organization workspace instead

  5. Your presentation is generated and the result is shown in the chat with a live link

Team and Enterprise Setup

Only an Owner can add the connector at the organization level, via Organization settings > Connectors. Members then connect individually from their own account.

Limitations

Custom connectors cannot be added from the mobile app. They must be added via web or desktop first, after which they become available on mobile.

That's all!
